All Terrace Bloom teas come from Yunnan province in southern China, which is the historic birthplace of tea. For generations, tea farmers in Yunnan's storied mountains have been producing the world's best tea, as this region has the ideal climate and altitude for producing top quality teas.
The tea plant (Camellia sinensis) is known to be very hardy and adaptable, which is why tea can be grown in so many different regions and climates. The most prized teas come from higher altitudes, where the tea actually grows slower. While this slower rate of growth may reduce yield, it’s actually highly beneficial because it allows the tea more time to develop the full, complex flavors that connoisseurs desire. Terrace Bloom teas are grown at high altitudes (6000+ feet) and at relatively cool temperatures (71-76 degrees) which are major factors contributing to slower growth and more complex flavors. High altitude is also favorable for pest control, as there are fewer insects as the elevation increases.
